Woman Arrested After High-Speed Chase Ends in I-94 Crash Following Traffic Stop Attempt by Kalamazoo County Deputies

A woman faces multiple felony charges after a dangerous pursuit through Kalamazoo County roads ended with her crashing into a median wall on I-94, according to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office.


Incident Details

The incident occurred on Friday evening, March 20, 2026, at approximately 9 p.m. Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle after observing erratic driving and high speeds on southbound US-131 near Stadium Drive in Kalamazoo County.

During the traffic stop attempt, deputies suspected the driver might be impaired. The Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office noted the vehicle was failing to stay within its lane while traveling at high speeds.


Instead of complying with the deputy's attempted traffic stop, the driver fled, leading to a dangerous pursuit through the Kalamazoo County area.

The woman drove off, leading to a chase that brought her dangerously close to multiple other vehicles on the roadway. Deputies reported that during the pursuit, the suspect's vehicle nearly struck several cars before ultimately crashing into the median wall on eastbound I-94 near the US-131 interchange.


Injuries and Charges

The woman was transported to Bronson Hospital for treatment. The Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office stated she sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover from her injuries.

She faces multiple felony charges, including:

  • Operating while intoxicated
  • Fleeing and eluding law enforcement
  • Open intoxicants in a motor vehicle

Additionally, deputies discovered the woman had outstanding felony warrants in Illinois during the incident.
