More Flight Options for Southwest Michigan Travelers
*KALAMAZOO, Mich.* — Delta Air Lines is rolling out an expanded schedule for Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport (AZO), adding a fourth daily flight to Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW). The enhanced service begins June 7, 2026, giving local travelers more flexibility and improved connections through Delta's major hub.
The additional flight will depart Kalamazoo at 6 p.m., complementing the three existing Delta departures that currently operate from the airport: 5:30 a.m., 11:42 a.m., and 3:04 p.m. This brings the total to four different daily flight options for passengers traveling between AZO and DTW.
"Increased frequency means more flexibility for our passengers," said Craig Williams, Airport Director for the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport. "This additional Delta flight strengthens connectivity to destinations worldwide and reinforces the importance of supporting local air service."
Enhanced Connectivity Through Delta's Detroit Hub
The new schedule offers more than just an additional departure time. According to airport officials, the expanded service provides shorter, more efficient layover opportunities for travelers connecting through Detroit Metropolitan Airport to other destinations.
Delta's hub at DTW serves as a major gateway to domestic and international travel. With the fourth daily flight, passengers can now access these broader destinations with greater scheduling options and less time between connections.
"This additional flight offers more schedule options and shorter, more efficient layover opportunities," Williams explained. "It strengthens connectivity to destinations worldwide and reinforces the importance of supporting local air service."
What This Means for the Region
The expansion demonstrates ongoing commitment to maintaining and enhancing air service for Southwest Michigan. The Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport has long been a critical transportation link for the region, serving thousands of passengers annually with connections to major cities across the country.
The addition of the 6 p.m. departure fills a gap in the evening schedule, allowing travelers to depart after work or evening activities and still make the final daily flight to Detroit. This is particularly valuable for:
- Business travelers with evening meetings
- Tourists who want to maximize their time in the region
- Students and workers with non-traditional schedules
- Passengers connecting from other flights arriving at DTW
Airport Leadership's Continued Focus on Service Enhancement
Craig Williams has consistently emphasized the importance of working closely with airline partners to bring enhanced service options to the region. The airport continues to prioritize maintaining reliable air service while expanding capacity where possible.
The successful addition of this fourth Delta flight builds on previous efforts to strengthen AZO's position as a regional transportation hub. Airport officials remain committed to supporting local airlines and maintaining competitive schedules that serve the community's needs.
"This additional Delta flight strengthens connectivity to destinations worldwide and reinforces the importance of supporting local air service," Williams stated.
Booking the New Flight
Passengers can now book the new 6 p.m. Delta flight from AZO to DTW. The expanded schedule becomes operational on June 7, 2026, but reservations for this new service are available immediately.
Travelers looking for more options for their upcoming trips will find the additional evening departure provides greater flexibility for scheduling and planning. The fourth daily flight joins an already robust network of connections between Kalamazoo/Battle Creek and Detroit Metropolitan Airport.
